"Support" is a big word. It means different things to different people and at varying times in their healing journeys. One size doesn't fit all.
This is why we go far beyond the norm of referring patients to community groups for support. Instead, we are developing our own program of services to meet the whole range of a patient's needs, from providing a quiet place to meditate to offering financial counseling.
Advanced Technology Breast Centers® include space set aside for personal renewal. We are working with Y-Me National Breast Cancer Organization, to form a peer support network and facilitated support groups for patients and their families . We are building personal, financial, and nutritional counseling services; regular web chats with our doctors; and even career advocacy partnerships with employers.
Our goal is to integrate a personalized support plan with a patient's overall healing plan at every stage, from her decision-making to pre-treatment, post-treatment, and beyond. As one of our team members puts it, "A comprehensive program like this allows each woman to come in at the point of her greatest need. We can meet people exactly where they are."
